Introducing APIs to authenticate users

Authentication is one of the important principles in product development and management.

To know from the very beginning what information we are going to get from the user to know more and how we are going to protect this private information is one of the challenges facing product managers.

On the other hand, developing authentication systems from scratch is time-consuming and expensive for many product development teams.

For this reason, many companies use authentication APIs depending on their needs. In this note, we explained a set of different authentication methods.

Users use different applications throughout the day, and each of them needs to create a user account and receive a username and password at different stages. This issue creates many challenges for users.

Because they have to remember all of them. Unified authentication or SSO (single sign-on) is a solution that was created for this problem.

In this method, instead of the user creating a user account on each site or application, he creates a user account in a larger space and uses the same user account to log in through a button in different products.

With an example if we want to explain the unified authentication system, this is what happened with Gmail. Today, in many applications, you see the option to log in through gmail.

In fact, applications and sites have used Google’s authentication api on their site.
