در جولای سال ۲۰۱۴ هنگامی‌که ارتش اسرائیل به غزه حمله کرد، برای شهرک‌نشینان روزهای خوشی بود!
با شروع غروب خورشید بر روی دریای مدیترانه، هر روز عصر بر فراز تپه‌های نزدیک به مرز غزه جمع می‌شدند تا شادی کنند و از تماشای بارانِ بمب‌هایی که چند مایل دوتر زندگی را برای فلسطینی‌ها جهنم می‌کرد، لذت ببرند.
مبل‌های قدیمی، صندلی‌های باغ، صندلی‌های ماشین ضربه‌خورده و جعبه‌های واژگون‌شده، سکوهای تماشاچیان می‌شدند.
خبرنگار گاردین نوشته بود: " در بالای یک تپه، به شاخه‌های یک درخت کاج تاب بسته‌اند که به ساکنان آن اجازه می‌دهد به آرامی در نسیم لذت ببرند. برخی بطری‌های آبجو، نوشابه و تنقلات می‌آورند."
یک دختر ۱۹ساله‌ی شهرک‌نشین به خبرنگار گاردین گفته بود: "ما آمده‌ایم تا بمباران را نگاه کنیم. این چهارمین شبی است که بالای تپه آمد‌ایم. چند ساعت اینجا خواهيم بود. جالب است." خبرنگار نوشته بود که او و دوست‌پسرش یک کوله‌پشتی پر از نوشیدنی و کیسه‌های چیپس همراه آورده‌اند.
طی آن چند شب، ۵۳۰ کودک در غزه سلاخی شدند.
In July 2014, when the Israeli army attacked Gaza, it was a happy time for the Israeli settlers!
As the sun began to set over the Mediterranean Sea, Israelis gathered every evening on the hills near the Gaza border to cheer and watch the rain of bombs that made life hell for Palestinians a few miles away.
Old sofas, garden chairs, battered car seats and overturned boxes became spectator platforms.
The Guardian reporter wrote: "Atop a hill, swings are tied to the branches of a pine tree, allowing residents to enjoy the gentle breeze. Some bring bottles of beer, soft drinks and snacks."
A 19-year-old girl from the settlement told the Guardian: "We have come to watch the bombing. This is the fourth night we have been on the hill. We will be here for a few hours. It is interesting." The reporter wrote that she and her boyfriend brought a backpack full of drinks and bags of chips.
During those few nights, 530 children were killed in Gaza.
