A book in a book in a book. It‘s the best way to describe “Sophie's World”book .
At first, it starts with an old man sending philosophical letters to a 14 y.o girl. It’s a good way to start a book, right?
the book is thick but it talks about the period of time when Sophie is 14 y.o and it end at the first day of summer after she becomes 15 y.o.
in between, the old man called “Alberto” does anything to teach Sophie about the history of philosophy. Including sending letters, calling their house phone number, going out with her, and stuff like these.
reading this book for those who love to know about philosophy but don‘t know where to start, is amazing.
the fun things happen since someone starts to write letters to Sophie for saying happy birthday to his girl which is not Sophie. It’s confusing, isn’t it?
if you really want to learn history of philosophy, you should trust the process in this book. Because no matter how strange it ends, it will become the most unique story you’ve ever read in your life.
A practical life lesson, I learned from this book is that if you want something to really work, you should stop being so sensetive about it and just do it , and pass it (without perfectionism).
