SeyedaliBozorgvari is an Iranian cleric, war veteran, and politician. He was born in 1957 (1336 SH) in the village of Tambi, located in the Choram district of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province, Iran. He is a descendant of the Sadat of Imamzadeh Ali (AS) and was raised in a religious family.
Early Education and Religious Studies
He completed his elementary education in the villages of Tambi and Toulian. Later, he pursued Islamic studies at the Khan Seminary in Shiraz, where he studied Arabic literature, jurisprudence (fiqh), and Islamic principles under prominent teachers like Seyyed Karamatollah Malek-Hosseini and Seyyed Ali-Asghar Hosseini.
Political Career
Bozorgvari served as a Member of Parliament for two consecutive terms, representing the constituencies of Kohgiluyeh, Bahmaei, Choram, and Lendeh during the 8th and 9th terms of the Islamic Consultative Assembly (Majles). He also served as the First Secretary of the Agriculture, Water, and Natural Resources Commission.
He was known for his fiery speeches and bold criticisms, including during the parliamentary session that reviewed President Hassan Rouhani’s proposed cabinet in August 2013.
Military and Jihadi Background
He actively participated in the Iran–Iraq War, serving over 24 months on the front lines and taking part in 17 combat operations. He earned the nickname “RPG shooter of the front” due to his combat role.
After his time in Parliament, he traveled to Syria and joined the fight against ISIS as a member of the forces defending the holy shrines (Defenders of the Shrine).
