Iran’s petroglyphs

In terms of scientific archaeological aspects as well as art history, Rock Arts are the most ancient and artistic phenomena left by mankind, in which lies a lot of mysteries.These are of the best open windows facing the distant millennia and therefore through them, various perspectives from the lives in ancient times can be observed.

Regarding to the context of the coded letters or shapes, alphabet, lines, messaging, languages, history, myths, art and culture, this would seem that all of them were derived from rock arts and so they are more able to be one of the best tools to pre-historic decoding that involved in interdisciplinary studies.

In a sense, Rock Art-Petroglyphs and Pictographs may be expressed as the first-hand documents in order to familiarize researchers with "translating" cultures from different climates and times. Speaking by the help of images and signs that were often the same for all the nations lived at various places and times; Indeed "an international common language".

Rock paintings are the investment symbols of human societies through which wealth and culture can be produced, too. Some of Petroglyphs have very old age so that is beyond the boundaries of myths. These paintings are not only the forehead of history and art made by mankind, some parts of the ancient history of the earth[3] can even be observed, definitely.

In this article, we intend to note these ancient concerns from different angles and demonstrate their value and importance as an eyewitness, too.

2- The 31 rock art archaeological sites of Khomein County (so called Teymareh or Teimareh valley spread over 150 square kilometers located in mountains around Khomein County) have provided the region unique for ecotourism as well as research activities. It has a high potential for hosting a rock art museum.

[3]- In addition to archeological aspects, other dimensions including various events and transformations on the earth particularly those changes resulted from earthquakes, biodiversity of plant/animal species and their evolution, climate changes, and man-caused interferences could be proposed by different specialists and might be opened new horizons in front of researchers.

The primary humans did not have a clear language or writing line for speaking together and transmitting messages and then in order to convey information and interact to each other, they had to use paintings and symbols named petroglyphs or rock arts.

All ancient human societies have crossed the bridge of rock arts and hence this kind of stone-graghy whose visual expression can adequately provide the clues of missing rings from the story of civilization. These are some reasons why many scientists have great interest to discover them or traveling to the places where such a panels have been found in order to closely investigate and introduce the hidden aspects of the life of ancient people. But this is seldom a part of the story. Rock paintings from different points of view are valuable and important (history of culture and art, national identity, natural history, tourism, applications, artistic elements and so on) and serve us in so many different ways that we can provide only a small fraction of their uses here. Therefore, the stone boards will undoubtedly have a plenty of words to express at the both national and international levels. Although rock art in the world contains an extensive background in science of Archeology of Art in academic centers for decades, it still has no a suitable position and proper implementation in Iran, regrettably.

Despite many difficulties, a unique attempt done by free researchers on Iranian artwork stones over the past decade in the national and international arenas is finding and matching petroglyphs in different places of Iran especially Teymareh region with the same ones from other parts of the world and conceptual designs on prehistoric pottery, as well. A visitor will be surprised while understanding their similarities and uniform themes as if they all had quite been created by one artist solely over thousands of years in Iran and the world! Modern mankind’s mental image is more likely to be profoundly affected in range of art, history, culture, communication and their obvious and hidden messages. This is what has attracted scientists from all around the world and may be the reason why Professor Jan Brouwer, a European rock art expert, after his visit to herein, Persian's (Teymareh) rock arts, in 2006 stated in his remarks: "We came to the strange land of Iranian rock paintings and gained incredible experiences".

The rocky monuments from an economic point of view too, as ecomuseums are of the best infrastructures in direction of prosperity in tourism development and sustainable employment which deserves more international attention with a multiplied motivation in advancing our rural tourism destination.
