Music-makers, and the dreamers of dreams
I've always admired Roald Dahl. His books were like a dream palace for my childhood. The BFG, Matilda, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, George's Marvelous Medicine; they're all what fed my starving imagination.
In the book "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", Roald Dahl quotes a poem from Arthur O’Shaughnessy:
“We are the music-makers, and we are the dreamers of dreams.”
There are many diverse languages in the world, but music is the one we all truly absorb with our hearts. We all get that warming sensation when we listen to a certain song we like. Music is what shapes our lives. Every film has its own soundtrack, so does our lives. We're composing music every moment, each having its own tempo; a calming adagio or a fast paced allegro. We are the music-makers of our own lives and its up to us whether to compose a bright and cheerful melody or a sad, emotional theme. If the harmony of our music is poor, we should start improving our own skills instead of putting the blame on the audience's ears.
Dreaming is like entering a new universe. Our unconscious mind takes us to the most wonderful of places. Whether its a heavenly, blissful land or a dark and haunted house. Dreams are limitless, we all have dreams in which we are living a perfect and prosperous life. Desires create our dreams, and its up to us to desire a joyful life or a monotonous one. We are the dreamers of our dreams.
We are responsible for the music we make and the dreams we dream. So if our music is strident or our dreams have became nightmares, we must start changing our attitudes. Let's hope we'll all compose tuneful music and dream the sweetest of dreams.
