I think it’s ironic the way we “try” to be ourselves, while this should be one of the easiest forms of being...
Cause to be one’s self has nothing to do with trying. In fact, it’s the other way around, it should be effortless.
Because when it comes to trying, usually there is something to achieve or something you’re afraid you might lose. So the “trying” becomes an arrow itself. An arrow pointing towards different stuff; stuff which are not usually “you”; or do not include you!
So that’s how we —goal-oriented beings— develop multiple coping mechanisms to not be in touch with ourselves, to mask the flaws, to build a flawless one. To achive and to not lose...
Not knowing that the key is to lose more and more, to be willing to lose more and more...
But it misses the very fact that these so called “goals” which are pointed by the arrow of our efforts, are what fill the empty holes in us.
Those flaws we try so hard to mask, are the main core that govern our goals, our needs, our efforts, what we invest our being on and simply us.
That’s when we come to realize that we meet the very thing that we’re trying to run away from.
